It of course shouldn't matter, but you are using the shift key below the caps lock?
I'm about at the limit of my knowledge from what I remember about these sorry.
Maybe someone else can jump in with some ideas?
Seems odd that it will not boot without extensions, or if it is getting to that point even?
yup and no prob thank you for the help yeah it just goes right to the screen saver and will not let me click on anything.

Hello,
I have a brand new 16gb iphone. I will probably change this to FS or list it on ebay if i cannot deal with local buyers, but for now, i'd rather sell it locally since I will be in downtown chicago till the second midweek of may.
Let me know if anyone has any interest, and how much they'd like to buy it for. :)
Also post any questions, and if they are requested, pictures will be posted.
thank you. :)

That's essentially what I was looking for as well, first just a way of figuring out how the backlight LED levels are determined and then trying to see if it could be controlled.
Interesting. It works great for me in Xcode 3.2.6 on OS X 10.6.6. Are you using another version or OS? How does it break for you? I just created a new Application -> Command Line Tool -> Foundation, add IOKit to the project and away we go.
B
Mea culpa.
I just sort of autopiloted through creating a C program in Xcode 4. I should know better since I've been passing IOKit & CoreFoundation frameworks to gcc in a Terminal window for the past couple of evenings.
:o
Proof positive - yours works a treat on Xcode 4.0 on 10.6.7 on a MBP 8,2. Apologies for the confusion.
:)
FWIW, I've been basically trying to copy & update the OSX Book code you linked to but also found these other sources (using IOConnectCallScalarMethod):
http://code.google.com/p/vavi-sensor/source/browse/trunk/vavi-ambientlight/src/main/jni/LmuWrapper.c?spec=svn14&r=14
http://qt.gitorious.org/qt-mobility/qt-mobility/commit/6992060873beaa52aea43f14835f899ba45642e8/diffs?diffmode=sidebyside&fragment=1#src/systeminfo/qsysteminfo_mac.mm
I never stumbled across the google link you posted. Good info.

It does not resolve even after reboot/hard reboot/restore.
Restore and reboot and hard reboot are all different things. Have you done ALL of them or just the reboots?

Did I read yours right? You ordered it Tuesday? do you mean the 23rd or 16th?
Also what are your specs?
I ordered mine this past Saturday and I'm so excitied, I have been waiting four weeks for a Dell and cancelled the order once I used the new ALbooks at the local store. You can't beat the edu discount

Not sure where to post "my thoughts" (as if anyone cares) but I haven't been in the right spot at the right time to get an iphone 4. I work during the week so that allows for weekends and nights. I'm actually quite surprised that the walk-in stock has been so scarce. Anyway, this is my first iphone, I think Apple is the smartest company around, they are the leaders, not the followers. IMHO. After calling every store in town that can legally sell the iphone for days and getting on numerous waiting lists, and being told constantly that "I have no idea when there will be more iphone 4's, maybe two weeks" I finally ordered one from my local AT&T store tonight. I'm never home to sign for deliveries and if they won't let me ship it to my office, then I can't do UPS, FedEx, ETC. AT&T let me "pre-order" a phone and have it delivered to the AT&T store, which Apple would not. I'm being told 7 - 14 days for the delivery, so we'll see. Apple is saying 3 weeks.

I got the GT5 Ps3 bundle and am quite happy...except for the idiotic bundling of Grown Ups?????? WTF is that and why on earth would I need that movie on BluRay? Couldn't have done Cars, Bullit (going for 10 dollars anyways and snagged it), Gone in 60 or something car related? It just doesn't make sense.
But I did save 10 bucks on GT5.
But yeah they are annoying. All the consoles are due for a price drop but they won't do it for a while so instead they'll do bundles for probably 6 months or so to add "perceived value". Very common marketing tactic for moving old volume. Very typical to see this at this time and it's not really going to change until the end of their life cycles....in fact I imagine it'll get worse (ie Two games, value cards, etc).

congrats to your iMac G3 , they are such cute little computers and not only Tiger runs well ,it is surprisingly fast if you consider that the computer is nearly 10 years old , i just love these little buggers , they are like pets but dont wee on your carpet :D
Thanks to you MacHamster, and 92Ward. My friend got it from a school district and since he is leaving for service in a week he decided to give it to me. I'm sure you could find an iMac G3 or a few for sale or just given away by the school districts. I know the local school districts has a company auction off palettes of them for cheap.
The iMac G3 is still amazingly usable in these days. It's a great iTunes server, and a wonderful web browsing machine. I love the iMac G3.

Does it have the paperwork?
Would you be willing to outright sell the Touch for enough to cover the $199 subsidized iPhone? (assuming you are eligible *ducks*)
Sorry, I can't do that. I'm locked into Alltel for the next two years. :(

The iPhone 4 was a failure at launch. The antenna is broken. It drops Internet connections and calls if held a certain. The glass claiming to be strong is weak sauce and the only good things on the phone are the cameras and screen.*
Am I the only one who feels this way?
The iPhone is still an amazingly awesome phone, so what for a tiny little issue.

I have a 17" iMac G4 that I am looking to sell.
The specs are:
17" screen
1.25 ghz
768 meg of ram
80 gig hard drive
Superdrive
FX 5200 video card
OSX Panther edition w/ discs
Apple Pro keyboard, mouse, and speakers
Couple of games as well.
The computer is in excellent condition. I bought in mid September of 2003. I have never sold anything on ebay so I have no supporting seller bona fides. I live in NC and would prefer to sell here and would hand deliver. However, I will ship anywhere in US. I will post pics when I get back home (I am work right now).

Bottom line is, Apple's going to get the 'iPhone' name, and Cisco is going to be very well compensated for it. So who cares?
Yep, totally the truth.

Throw some games in the hat please guys!
I'm looking for a game to play under windows on my machine (see sig)
What are you all playing at the moment?
STALKER is coming out next week in the UK. I'm hoping it's going to be a Fallout-esque FPS. It's set in an area called the Zone, near Chernobyl. It's a bit of a mish mash of Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky and the Chernobyl incident. CVG has plenty of interviews and reviews with the developers.

I have never used a Samsung drive, nor do I know anybody who has. Do they actually make their own? Or do they get drives relabeled from another company?
I have a P80. They make their own drives and have very nice tech. But they only make smaller drives with up to 2 platters (P120 has 125GB per platter).

Haha luckily for you (and I as well) they do, for free, with no questions asked. This is widely known that the polycarbonate Macs crack around the area near the bottom of the screen (plastic) and at the palm rest around the corners.
Just call ahead, make sure they have the part in stock (tell them that it's cracked and ask if they can fix it in house) and if so, head over there, drop it off, find something to do, and come back later that day and pick it up :)
The bottom palm rest of my blackbook is cracked and I'm planning on going to the nearest Apple store as soon as I get off for the summer to get it fixed.

Yes this is possible, most likely. You can see the Time Capsule in the Finder window, I don't know if 10.2 can see it there but it should be able to find it somehow. I can't remember that far back.

One thing to be leery of is, yes keep your original ram and if you bring it in for Applecare, make sure to put the original ram back in laptop.
What often happens is the person servicing your laptop will restore it to original specs. So if you machine is a 4GB machine, they might take out your 8GB trash it and put in their 4GB so it matches the computer build. I've read many stories on these forums of people losing their expensive harddrive or ram and got back stock items.
