In US It takes one day if you have police report, old passport copy. I have done this at the Chicago embassy. They will issue you a new passport with visa stamp (US visa only).

I had received response to 140 stating pending background name check.
Here is the exact lines
"USCIS is awaiting the results of your pending background name check. The USCIS is unable to predict when a background check might be completed. so they ask us to wait 120 days before initiating another inquiry."
I am not sure whether this is related with IBIS check or name check or background check. If its an IBIS check EAD also got the same check and my EAD has been renewed twice. My FP was done in Nov 07 and after 2 days of FP my appln was transferred from TSC to NSC
Anyway I will wait for another 120 days

I am in the similar situation but we never know when and what documents are needed since every day immigration law is changing, keeping that in mind, I renewed mine and my spouse�s EAD

Well it's true and proved here, the ideal mind is an EVIL mind. When the country was split into two in 1947, we still don't have the peace, what do you expect with so many states spiting into countries. Today we see states spiting, just to gain power and make money for the corrupt politicians. For the selfish gains you want to country to split???? Be a Indian..and stop wasting your time.

I saw a thread somewhere that instructs how to call IO. This is my first call to any Immigration Office.
I had replied to RFE two weeks back and did not get any updates online.
That is why I called.
The officer told me my application is with the officer. I have no idea what that means. He asked me my receipt number and I gave him the WAC#.

This kind of happened to me. Got the AP approval email then after 4 days got EAD approval email. Got EAD card in the mail a week after that.
And surprisingly got AP in mail a whole week after that. Looking at the AP
envelope it was postmarked after the EAD card was actually put in mail.
So it might be that your AP is on its way. But 30 days sounds a lot of
time. I would try and talk to the customer service and open a SR.

I think he was talking about s1932... the immigration related provisions were removed from that in the conference. You need inform them that they should at least get behind the Frist bill or Spector bill and request them to support removing the hard limits on the country quotas.
Some talking points may be:
Ask them if they support quotas for college admissions, and then ask if they support country quotas for immigration...
Explain how quotas that are not tied to population are punishing countries like India and China with larger population.
Also explain how government is dictating to the companies where they can get the talent from and how that harms businesses as it punishes countries with good education system and large talent pools.
Some talking points may be:

I sent money order for some applications and personal checks for some.
Money Order can be tracked thru' ur bank - call them and ask how. I did and they gave a 1-800 number to call and track - it is an automated system. My money order was thru' Chase Bank

I would donate 500$ if I get the GC before 2012. If not I would reduce it by 50$ a year there after.

But I have a lot to be thankful for. Thanks to IV, he has his EAD and can have one less thing to worry about in his new job search.
If he is in IT - no need to worry at all. Hiring is going on in full swing which is unusual for this part of the year.

by saying this, you are belittling the people who do call center jobs in india.
speaking without a thick indian accent can be great for your career..because, while communication skills may not be important to be a programmer, it does get important when you are speaking in a meeting, or giving a presentation .
having said that, i would ask the admins to delete this thread. This is just advertising. Im sure all of us can google ways to improve our communication skills/improve english/speak in american accent or whatever it is we want to do.

I E-filed my EAD application and sent the supporting documentation to the location on the confirmation page. To day I see the following notice:
"We attempted to deliver your item at 1:51 PM on June 11, 2008 in MESQUITE, TX 75185 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later."
Is there something I can do to resolve this?

Atten: E-File I-765 PO BOX: 852401
MESQUITE, TX 75185
How did you sent it? If USPS, PO BOX is supposed to be in their premesis and supposed to be always deliverable.
Is it like Box was FULL? I think, this message is by mistake. BTW, are not we supposed to use full nine digit ZIP 75185-2401

Hi. I realized that I made a mistake when filling out the I 485 Part Three:
I posted this at the wrong spot initially. Sorry.
I made a mistake on the I485 form Part Three Processing Information. Specifically, I filled in the I-94 number issued for my H1B as the "Nonimmigration Visa Number", instead of the visa number I got when I was still in F1 Student status.
I called USCIS twice and they informed me that I can make corrections after I get the receipt--I can send in a corrected form, along with a letter explaining the correction, and also a copy of the receipt.
I was wondering whether anyone here had done that before.
I am kicking myself for misunderstanding the form! Please help!

If you pay the new fee for EAD or AP, there is no mention that you won't have to pay again for EAD or AP. You don't have to pay for EAD and/or AP if you had paid new fee for I-485.
To be honest, I have no idea. That's what my attorney told me. I hope she's right then.

My wife has been offered a position by her client, a company which received TARP funding and repaid it. These are her immigration details:
H1b start date: 01-Oct-2004
Perm applied: Jan-2008
Audited Twice: First time because of FRAGOMEN and second time asking for some documents
Perm Status: Pending
Original H1b expiration: 30-Sep-2010
H1B extended because Perm has been pending for more than a year
Current H1b expiration: 30-Sep-2011
I do understand it is better to transfer with an approved I-140 because it allows for porting priority date and 3 year extension of H1 with new company but I am not sure new company can wait that long.
In the current situation, is it possible to transfer H1b and get the validity until 30-Sep-2011? Appreciate your responses.
