Hi,
A lot of us are in a similar situation.
1) There are tons or remote tools. You can SSH using putty to get terminal access. You can use Logmein or Bomgar for a remote control solution. The best option is a good VNC client(mac has a VNC support enable it in sharing). I haven't found one I like but i'm using a mac as my primary so it doesn't really matter.(If you find a good VNC client let me know for my co-workers.
2)You have much better scripting in Mac. You can use BASH scripts, Perl scripts or Apple Scripting. Way better than BAT files.
3)There are various options for giving you group policy options. Macs don't have Group Policy but have MCX or Managed Client Setting for OSX. Extend your AD schema(you can google it), you can get an apple server and build the Magic Triangle or buy a third party mac management solution. There is also some goodies coming in Lion that may solve your problem if you can be patient.
Hope this answers your question.
Thanks,
Peter

i get the same thing to. it usually happens when i play the app words with friends. If the app runs ads and you go to the home screen sometimes you get the ad below the status bar, sometimes you don't. if you close the app then the ad will go away. (double tap home button and hold down the app till the minus sign comes up to close it)
hope that helps

Same here in Holland, awful service and always pushing the dates if they haven't got it in stock. Within a week might end up being within 6 months. perhaps.

i'd probably just do the base 13", if you're getting an i7 imac.

Or why not an MBA? It should be able to handle Aperture fine, not sure about Final Cut - might want to ask on the MBA forum.

Are you saying that you are not impressed by this feature just because it doesn't fit YOUR need, even though you emphasize that it works very well if you have a small screen (most Mac users have the laptop)?
Runs smooth as butter on my 11" 2GB machine.
I am saying that this feature isn't very important to me. I know that for people with relative small displays or other needs, that full screen is a good idea (as I said before).
I am still giving Full screen mode a chance. I have been using mail and Safari in full screen the whole day and I am trying to find reasons to use it, but I think it doesn't fit in my workflows.

I don't know why TechCrunch is claiming this is an "internal GM", maybe they know something I don't, but as it stands it seems they are just causing confusion.
Duff-Man says....I suspect that someone just misunderstood or misinterpreted something they heard or were told. Perhaps what was said regarding which build to release as the 2nd preview got twisted into being *the* GM release....oh yeah!

I was actually thinking of waiting until I could get 8GB and SandyBridge (iX) processors. ;) But the fact they'll have to be ULV will still make their performance lower than the MBPs.

ha! i actually bought this cd off itunes a few months ago. could do with some more sequencing and layering. but what it is great for is sampling. i took one of the ink cartridge hitting the side of the caseing sounds and processed it into a kick drum. heres a rough mix.
very cool. what mixing software did you use? :)

It's not the first. I saw this on the TV show "1000 ways to Die" last week. The rooster stabbed the owner in the neck severing an artery.

You're going to rip your hair out coding for IE6.. is there a reason you're wanting to?
Considering that IE6 is being promoted by Microsoft to die I really wouldn't worry about making it compatible, unless your audience is from South Korea where 24% are still using IE6 :p

bought probably 7 cases plus the free bumpers.
I simply purchased a squaretrade warranty and now running naked, loving it.
If you call apple they will still give you one, as of 2 weeks ago

Oh. The store I went to had a line that stretched nearly halfway across the mall, so they were pretty anal about making sure people actually in the line got in first.
We had about 480 in line, and they were only giving them to random people after everyone in line (or that had been at 6:00) got a shirt.

If you would like to make a reasonable investment, a NAS might be your best bet. I have a Synology DS411J that I wrote a review about HERE (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1117716). You can throw up to 4 SATA desktop drives into it. As long as you have more than one, your data will be protected automatically from one drive failure. The software on board also can automatically backup your data to one or more external USB drives. My setup is 4x2TB Western Digital Green drives in one of these along with a 2TB USB external drive that is used for a 3-times-weekly nightly backup. I have a couple thousand Aperture RAW files along with nearly 1TB of movies. It works flawlessly for everything. Plus it has automatic Time Machine support that works surprisingly well over wireless.

I was waiting on the 5 but have always wanted a white iPhone, my 3GS is black and so far I'm very pleased indeed :D

That article is very good but it's directed mostly to manufacturers and industry standard setters rather than end-users.
Unfortunately, it's a bit tricky. After TRIM Enabler came out about a month ago I did a secure erase. Nonetheless, the other day I ran Stellar Mac Data Recovery to undelete a file and it found a LOT of old files (almost a GB worth) that I think pre-date the secure erase. I might try a more "scientific" test when I have more time.
I plan to pass the MacBook Air down within the family when I get a new one, but I agree manufacturers need to get on the ball.
Very good to know, I hope this will be corrected with future OS and SSD upgrades. Thanks, KPom.

If you cd into the root of the volume, after you mount it, and then 'ls -la', do you get the same results (no items)?
