Good point Dejo, here's the books:
Wrox: professional iphone and ipot touch programming, building apps for mobile safari
Obj C for Dummies
O'Reilly: Tapworthy
Payload Media: iOS4 essentials
O'Reilly: learning iPhone Programming
O'Reilly: iPhone App Dev, the missing manual
Addision Wesley: Programming in Obj C 2.0
Wiley: Obj C develop reference
Head First: iphone Development
As far as Amazon displaying more, several only show the 1st chapter, really after you have a few books it becomes more difficult to find a book that has something new in it that hasn't been covered by the other books.
I have no problem buying another book, I just don't want to buy a book that covers what I already have covered in other books.
I used to be able to browse the whole book and determine if it was going to be helpful before purchase, this doesn't seem to be the case with online books.
Books aren't expensive, but I don't want to have a bunch of books that mostly cover the same thing. Even in the past it was hard to find a good book that covered things in great detail so that you could really exploit things.
Looks like Amazon has one such book coming out about CoreAudio, I'm looking forward to that one :)
Thanks for the tip on UICatalog, I'll check it out.

This is a new one I have never seen. This happens in both Safari and Firefox, so I am assuming it is an issue with my computer. Starting a few days ago, I noticed these little yellow tool tips or popup boxes appear with news clips. You can not click on it and they only show up when you refresh or start a new page. It does not happen always when you over over a hyperlink either!!
This is the strangest thing I have seen and I can not find anything online about this. I am annoyed by this and have no idea how to make it stop!
Any advice??

Doesnt this thread belong to 2000 or something?
10GB iPods? N64 expansion paks? Heh, doesnt look like a new post thats for sure.
As for your question it improves the image quality somewhat but some games (like Majoras Mask) require it so its not a bad purchase... as for getting one, try ebay...

Hello:
I am planning on selling my 17'' MBP to one of my good friends as I'd like to switch to a MacBook Air since it will better suit my needs. I was wondering if anybody has an idea of what a fair price would be.
Here are the general specs:
Purchased: Spring 2007
Monitor: 17''
Processor: 2.33 GHz Inter Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Snow Leopard OS
Any feedback is appreciated, thanks

i have to ask... what is with the drop shadow? huge, obvious drop shadows are NOT good unless you are animating 3d objects or doing motion graphics... the big drop shadow is running rampant around the web attacking sites left and right... i say we start here and rise against the drop shadow.
beyond that, like other users said, your tech side is fine. as for visuals, others have pointed out the color issues.
as a general rule, to see what other designers are doing, check out design portals such as news today, design is kinky or k10k. there are tons out there and they show the best of the best digital artists.

Check out the book "Beginning iPhone 4 Development". It's from Apress books. There is a full chapter on pickers (Chapter 7). Sounds like what you are looking for is exactly what is in that chapter.

In NZ you can buy them from http://www.photo.co.nz/newprods/newcrumpler.htm and they seem to be wierdly a lot cheaper than the aussie crumpler website prices, but I'm not complaining :) I think they do international shipping and take the gst (tax) off the price, so I guess it would depend on how much shipping costs to see if it was worth getting sent to where ever you live. I have a crumpler sheep scarer for my 12" powerbook and its great. Carrys my lunch, powerbook, wallet, some thin notebooks and a jersey. My b'friend has been looking at either a very busy man or a wack-o-phone for his 15" powerbook. From looking at them I would prefer to have a wack-o-phone for a 12" cos the very busy man seems quite large, but it depends how large your binder and books are. The wack-o-phone seems to have comparable space to my sheep scarer. There are lots of reviews online if you search on google and I remember reading another good review on these forums. Only problem I have with mine is that it zips at the back so its a real pain if you want to get your wallet or anything out quickly as you have to take the whole thing off to get anything out. Might get a Weetons to fix this problem.

Although I'll admit setting it up is a little touchy, it's far from impossible (http://www.jasondorn.com/revolution/) to do.
The biggest thing you need to remember is to put a directory for your blog to reside, other wise it'll just upload everything to the root(aka before your http folder) and you won't see nothing.
I assume your trying to FTP to your own domain/site?

I don't know; at the 1st installation (10.3 + 10.3.7 combo + 10.3.8 patch + applications), everything was working untill I red my emails and tried to save as .pdf and try to print a popup of this web page; http://store.dxo.com/login.asp?LID=2.
For the 2nd installation, I did (10.3 + 10.3.7 combo + 10.3.8 patch) but in safe boot mode. So I don't know...
Now I'm still working in safe boot mode.

I am afraid that it is not bug free yet, and with all the in-house designed features that it is offering, they simple aren't great enough to offset the way the members act.

a friend asked me to post this.
What he needs to do is have photoshop open up a text file that contains lines of file names, eg 2039-299434322.jpeg and have it create and save dummy files out of those filenames in a certain folder.
From what i gathered the purpose is to have the files ready so he can then find the ones he wants to put stuff into and edit them.
He wants to script this because there will be lots of files to create.
Any thoughts/ideas?

... But PLEASE SOMEBODY help me here! ..as i said, im not very computer literate and only just started producing music using computers so please use dummy terms lol ..thanks in advance
The amazon.com page you linked to did not have any meaningful specs. They only list the kinds of interface and give no performance numbers. So this could be working just fine but only it's a slow drive.
Also when people say to record to an external they mean only your data goes there. keep all thos system files on the system drive

Hyperthreading is the latest name for an Intel technology that effectively allows a single physical core to run as two virtual cores. So in the current iMac range the i5 processors have 4 physical cores and can run 4 threads in parallel. The i7 processores have 4 physical cores but can run 8 threads in parallel thanks to hyperthreading.
So Hyperthreading only really offers an advantage with applications that are designed to run on multiple cores. Unfortunately things aren't entirely that simple as there's also the slightly faster clock speed of the i7 and Turbo Boost to consider.
Turbo Boost effectively lets a processor speed up when it's not using all of its cores by 'shutting off' the cores that aren't in use. Off the top of my head the i5 3.1Ghz can Turbo Boost to 3.4Ghz while the i7 3.4Ghz can run to 3.8Ghz. The real world difference is relatively small but can be worth a couple of frames a second in a game or a few seconds off a benchmark.
Hope that helps a bit, if there's anything there that's not clear just ask.

Why wait in line...The Best buy in Citrus Park and the CompUSA in Brandon will both have Leopard without waiting. The will also have Apple Representatives on hand to answer questions.

* Full screen mode: A good idea that works very well if you have small screens or/and resolution. On my ACD I have so much space that for most apps, full screen mode is an overkill. I don't see me using it a lot. Maybe when Aperture gets it I will use it.
Are you saying that you are not impressed by this feature just because it doesn't fit YOUR need, even though you emphasize that it works very well if you have a small screen (most Mac users have the laptop)?
Is anyone running Lion on a lower-powered machine? I'd like to hear feedback on those who have tried it on an 11" MBA.
Runs smooth as butter on my 11" 2GB machine.
